Two Alleged Kidnappers Apprehended After Receiving N1m Ransom from Victim in Edo State.

The Edo State Police Command apprehended two individuals, Daniel Okoh and Adamu Shaibu, who are suspected of kidnapping. This came after they received a ransom of N1 million from their victim, Destiny Okpuje, in Edo State.

Information gathered revealed that the individual was abducted at the Iguoriakhi farm settlement and was subsequently released upon paying a ransom of N1 million to the kidnapper.

Addressing the media regarding the arrest, the Commissioner of Police for the state, CP Muhammed Dankwara, explained that the victim, along with three others, was attacked by armed kidnappers at the Iguoriakhi farm settlement.

The CP detailed that the kidnappers pursued them, resulting in the successful abduction of Okpujie, while the remaining three managed to escape.

Dankwara stated that the victim was held captive for three days and was eventually released after the payment of a N1 million ransom to the kidnapping gang.


On October 27, a member of the kidnapping gang, Daniel Okoh, reportedly contacted the victim using a concealed phone number. Okoh claimed to be part of the kidnappers and demanded a payment of N200,000 into his Opay account.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammed Dankwara, mentioned that through technical intelligence, the concealed phone number was exposed, leading to the subsequent arrest of the suspects.

He further stated that the arrested individuals have confessed to the crime and are cooperating with the police in the ongoing investigation to apprehend other suspects who are on the run.

CP Dankwara indicated that once the investigation is concluded, the suspects will be brought to court for prosecution.
