Three Nigerians have been arrested by Indian police on charges of drug trafficking

The Chandigarh Police Crime Branch in India announced the dismantling of an international drug syndicate, resulting in the arrest of three foreign nationals and the seizure of 204.8 grams of crystal methamphetamine, commonly referred to as ice.

Identified as Frank Nwokeji, Loua, and Jack David Ilobi Tochukwu, the suspects are Nigerian residents of New Delhi.

Loua, who had previously been detained in 2019 under the NDPS Act for possession of 207 grams of heroin, is currently out on bail but was arrested again for drug-related activities.

Similarly, David has had previous encounters with law enforcement and had been arrested by the Delhi Police on multiple occasions.

The police, led by Inspector Ashok Kumar, received information on March 30 that three Africans, known for supplying drugs in Chandigarh, were arriving with a substantial quantity of narcotics.

Investigations revealed that the suspects had entered India on medical and business visas for short stays but became involved in illegal drug trafficking and overstayed illegally after their visas expired.

Further investigation unveiled that the suspects purchased the contraband at lower prices from their home country and sold them at higher prices in discos, pubs, and bars in the Tricity area.

Authorities stated that the investigation into the case is ongoing, with hopes of apprehending more members of the drug syndicate.
