Twenty-five individuals from Agojeju-Odo community, situated in the Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State, were laid to rest following an assault believed to have been carried out by herdsmen. Among the victims, tragically, were two women and four children, all of whom fell victim to armed assailants on Thursday, April 4, 2024. During the funeral held on Saturday, April 6, Chief David Akpa, the District Head and Ochala Onu-Ife Bagaji Odo, Omala, condemned the attack as both barbaric and wicked.

Expressing profound grief, Akpa emphasized that the community had never experienced any conflicts with either bandits or herdsmen prior to this incident.

He underscored the prevailing sense of fear among the residents, particularly with rumors circulating that the assailants might target Bagaji Odo, where surviving victims have sought refuge.

In an appeal to the federal and state governments, Akpa implored for assistance and protection against such banditry, revealing that this was the second attack in 2024, instilling widespread fear among the populace.
