In Abuja on Tuesday, the Court of Appeal officially affirmed Natasha Akpoti-Uduagan of the Peoples Democratic Party as the rightful victor in the Kogi Central Senatorial Election that took place in February 2023.

Furthermore, the court rejected the appeal submitted by Abubakar Ohere of the All-Progressives Congress, deeming it lacking in merit.

Justice K. A. Orjiako, the Tribunal Chairman, rendered the unanimous decision of the three-member panel, exposing that Ohere’s votes were artificially increased in nine polling stations within the Ajaokuta Local Government Area.

He mentioned that the Independent National Electoral Commission diminished Natasha’s outcomes in those regions and excluded the results of three additional polling stations designated for Natasha within the same LGA.

Subsequently, Ohere pursued legal recourse due to the Tribunal’s verdict. Nonetheless, the Appeal Court reaffirmed Akpoti-Uduagan’s victory in the election.

In response to the appellate court ruling, Akpoti-Uduagan posted a comment, “We won the Appeal. Joy amidst tears. Thank you Kogi Central. This is us together. “
