NAFDAC shut down bakeries and water factories in Rivers State for making dangerous fake products.

NAFDAC has taken decisive action, shutting down ten bakeries and eight table water factories for producing fake and harmful products.

The agency’s statement, released today, highlights that some of these facilities operated in unhygienic conditions and used popular brand names without proper authorization. The raid followed thorough investigations, surveillance, and consumer complaints about substandard products.

Many of the bakeries lacked NAFDAC registration or had expired licenses, while some water factories operated without essential filtration equipment. NAFDAC emphasizes the importance of compliance, urging producers to renew licenses promptly and warning of consequences for violations.

Several bakeries were found to have inadequate registration with NAFDAC, while others possessed expired licenses or had relocated without informing the Agency. Furthermore, certain water factories were discovered to be functioning without essential filtration equipment.
