Eight suspects have been arrested by the police in connection with the murder of a lecturer from the University of Maiduguri.

The Borno State Police Command has apprehended eight suspects linked to the killing of Dr. Kamar Abdulkadir, a lecturer at the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID).

Dr. Kamal was tragically murdered in his office at the university on Sunday, March 31, 2024, by unknown assailants, according to reports from LIB.


ASP Daso Kenneth, the spokesperson for the command, revealed the arrests to journalists on Monday in Maiduguri. Upon receiving information about the incident, the police swiftly took action and apprehended eight suspects in connection with the murder.

“We received a distress call regarding the murder of Dr. Kamal. It was confirmed that he was killed in his office and his car was stolen by the perpetrators,” stated the PPRO.

“So far, eight individuals have been arrested and are currently under investigation to determine those responsible for the crime,” he added.

The spokesperson urged for calm, assuring the public that the command is effectively managing the situation.
