Court has approved substituted service on Mohbad’s wife for a DNA test.

The Chief Magistrate Court in Ikorodu has approved the order for Wunmi, the wife of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, to be served notice of the pending DNA test application through substituted means.

This information was conveyed in a statement signed by Monisola Odumosu, a member of the Aloba family’s legal team, as reported by Punch.

In an application filed by the legal team representing Joseph Aloba, the late singer’s father, the family sought an order to serve Wunmi by posting all the legal documents, including the originating processes, at her last-known address.

Emmanuel Oroko’s legal team argued that despite two unsuccessful attempts by the sheriff to serve Wunmi with the court process, she remained elusive.

Consequently, Odumosu, speaking on behalf of the legal team, highlighted that serving Wunmi at her last-known address as ordered by the court would constitute proper service, ensuring her awareness of the pending lawsuit.

The Chief Magistrate granted the order, instructing that Wunmi be served by posting the court documents at her last known address.

This legal maneuver comes amidst the Aloba family’s dispute over the paternity of baby Liam, leading to an application filed in the Family Court.

The application seeks an order against Wunmi to appear with baby Liam for a DNA test at a recognized laboratory in Lagos.

Additionally, it was noted in the statement that despite Wunmi’s public acknowledgment of readiness for a DNA test in a viral video, she had evaded the court sheriff’s attempts to serve her with the originating motion.

However, Odumosu revealed that the matter had been adjourned until next month for the report of service. When reached for comment, Wunmi’s lawyer, Taiwo Olawanle, claimed to be unaware of the court order.

“We don’t have the court order. If we have an order, we will advise her to adhere to it. That is not a problem. But we are not aware of any order. I am just hearing that from you.”

Mohbad, aged 27, passed away on September 12, 2023, under circumstances that sparked controversies on social media.

As a former signee of Marlian Music owned by Naira Marley, Mohbad left the label in February 2022. Subsequently, on September 18, 2023, the Lagos State Police Command established a 13-member special investigation team to probe the singer’s death.

His demise also resulted in the arrest of Naira Marley, as well as controversial Lagos socialite Balogun Eletu, alias Sam Larry, among others.

The singer’s body was exhumed for autopsy on September 21, 2023, to ascertain the cause of death, and is yet to be laid to rest.
