Civil servants receive approval for salary increase from FG.

The Federal Government has authorized a significant salary boost ranging from 25% to 35% for civil servants across multiple consolidated salary structures.

This increase pertains to the remaining six consolidated salary structures: Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure (CONPSS), Consolidated Research and Allied Institutions Salary Structure (CONRAISS), Consolidated Police Salary Structure (CONPOSS), Consolidated Para-military Salary Structure (CONPASS), Consolidated Intelligence Community Salary Structure (CONICCS), and Consolidated Armed Forces Salary Structure (CONAFSS).

NTA released a statement on April 30, announcing the approval of this salary increment, effective from January 1, 2024.

Previously, salary increases had been granted to those in the Tertiary Education and Health Sectors, including Consolidated University Academic Salary Structure (CONUASS), Consolidated Tertiary Institutions Salary Structure (CONTISS), Consolidated Polytechnics and Colleges of Education Academic Staff Salary Structure (CONPCASS), Consolidated Tertiary Educational Institutions Salary Structure (CONTEDISS), Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS), and Consolidated Health Sector Salary Structure (CONHESS).

Emmanuel Njoku, the Head of Press at the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission (NSIWC), confirmed the salary hikes, along with pension increases of 20% to 28% for pensioners under the Defined Benefits Scheme, effective from January 1, 2024.
