Yunusa Tanko, who serves as the Chief Spokesperson for the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Organization, has refuted the assertion that Peter Obi is making use of his deceased brother’s university diploma.

In a statement released on Monday, October 16, 2023, in Abuja, Tanko characterized the rumors as an absurdity, contending that Peter Obi and his late brother pursued different courses at the University of Nigeria (UNN).

The Labor Party faction’s spokesperson, Abayomi Arabambi, recently raised concerns regarding the educational qualifications of the former Anambra State Governor.

During an appearance on an AIT program on Thursday, October 12, 2023, Arabambi alleged that the name on Obi’s UNN certificate did not match the name on his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate.

He leveled this accusation in response to Peter Obi’s call for President Bola Tinubu to reintroduce himself to the Nigerian public.

In his assertion, Arabambi argued that it was unjust for Obi to criticize Tinubu, given the alleged inconsistencies in his own academic records.

Responding to the accusations against the Labor Party’s presidential candidate, Tanko characterized Arabambi as one of Tinubu’s hired provocateurs, engaging in unfounded allegations to discredit Obi.

Tanko Said, “Obi in his capacity as Labour Party standard bearer had innocuously advised the embattled President to rest the certificate-gate around him and save the country further embarrassment by reintroducing himself and putting the records straight.

“A simple patriotic advisory that was informed by belief in anything that is connected to national development, but their hirelings, freebooters and lawless adventurers prefer to insult our candidate with fabrications.

“In one of his pieces of fiction, they claimed that Obi was impersonating his dead senior brother; a farce, slapstick comedy from hell. Obi’s most senior brother is alive. One of his senior brothers who died was in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN years ahead of Obi and read Computer Science while Obi read Philosophy.”

Tanko went on to tag the leader of the LP faction, Lamidi Apapa as a “Political hirelings and buccaneers indulged in menial work of character assassination to ostensibly soil the name of our Presidential candidate.”

He asserted that Apapa and Arabambi were no more affiliated with the Labor Party.
