Woman in Lagos Arrested for Pouring Hot Water on Husband

The Lagos State Police Command detained a woman named Dorcas Oluwabukola for allegedly scalding her husband with hot water in the Meiran area. The police source from the Meiran division informed The Punch that once the investigation is concluded, the suspect will be transferred to the state Criminal Investigation Department.

The incident reportedly occurred after the husband attended a childhood friend’s wedding without his wife, leading to a disagreement. In the ensuing altercation, the wife poured hot water on him.

The police source assured the public that a thorough investigation would be conducted and mentioned that the husband, hospitalized since the incident, is being closely monitored by the divisionWom.an in Lagos Arrested for Pouring Hot Water on Husband Amid Suspicions of Infidelity.

“It is true the incident happened. The incident happened about six days ago. It was a true story. She poured hot water on her husband purposely because she felt that he cheated on her,” the police source said. 

“They were supposed to go to a party together. However, the husband went all alone. We are still monitoring the progress of the husband because he has been hospitalised since that day. He has not been discharged.

“We arrested the wife immediately because that is a capital offence. There is no option for bail. We are waiting for the appropriate time for us to move the case to the state CID.”


Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the State Police Command, verified the occurrence to NAN, mentioning that it occurred on December 18, 2023.

According to the PPRO, the couple initially intended to attend the wedding together, but the husband opted to go alone. This decision resulted in a heated argument, culminating in the wife boiling water and pouring it on her husband.

Hundeyin, the police spokesman, informed that the victim is presently undergoing treatment at a healthcare facility. Additionally, the command has initiated an investigation into the incident.
