Arrival of US President Jeo Biden in Tel Aviv

US President Joe Biden has arrived in Israel in an urgent effort to prevent the escalation of the conflict with Hamas into a broader crisis, following a tragic explosion at a Gaza hospital that resulted in the loss of 500 lives.

This morning, upon his arrival at Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv, President Biden was welcomed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Their meeting took place amidst mounting concerns of the conflict’s intensifying impact, particularly following a devastating explosion at the al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza City last night. The hospital, which was providing medical care and shelter to numerous civilians seeking refuge from Israel’s relentless airstrikes, was struck by a massive fireball.

At an earlier time, President Biden expressed his profound shock and sorrow over the hospital explosion in Gaza.

“I am outraged and deeply saddened by the explosion at the Al Ahli Arab hospital in Gaza, and the terrible loss of life that resulted,” he said.

“Immediately upon hearing this news, I spoke with King Abdullah II of Jordan, and Prime Minister Netanyahu of Israel and have directed my national security team to continue gathering information about what exactly happened. The United States stands unequivocally for the protection of civilian life during conflict and we mourn the patients, medical staff and other innocents killed or wounded in this tragedy.”
