Turbulence ensues as NIPOST employees decline the CEO chosen by Tinubu, leading to the closure of the head office.

Tola Odeyemi as the Chief Executive Officer/Postmaster-General.

NIPOST employees in Abuja have taken the step of closing down the service’s headquarters to voice their discontent over the selection of Tola Odeyemi as the Chief Executive Officer/Postmaster-General.

Last week, Presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale disclosed President Bola Tinubu’s reshuffling of leadership in communication agencies, which included NIPOST.

However, in a twist of events, shortly after Odeyemi’s appointment was revealed, there were reports suggesting the reappointment of Adeyemi Adepoju as the Postmaster-General.

In a viral video, Adepoju was captured addressing some employees who asserted that Tinubu had reinstated him.

In a statement released by NIPOST on Friday, Adepoju asserted that President Bola Ahmed had reappointed him as the Postmaster General of the Federation and the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Postal Service, NIPOST.

According to NIPOST’s statement, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reinstated Rt. Honourable Adeyemi Sunday Adepoju as the Postmaster General of the Federation and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), citing Adepoju’s exceptional leadership and outstanding performance during his previous tenure as the grounds for his reinstatement.”

However, on Monday, the protesting workers refused entry to the newly appointed NIPOST CEO, claiming her appointment was not in line with their preferences.
