The new CEO of NIPOST takes office shortly after facing opposition from discontented workers regarding her appointment.

Tola Odeyemi.

As reported by Aprokovibesng, Tola Odeyemi, the recently designated Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nigeria Postal Service (NIPOST), has commenced her duties at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja, even in the face of protests against her appointment.

Notably, President Bola Tinubu relieved Adeyemi Adepoju of his role as CEO/Postmaster General of the agency last week and installed Odeyemi in his place.

The presidential spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, revealed that a leadership reshuffle had been executed for agencies and parastatals within the Ministry of Communications, Innovations, and Digital Economy.

Addressing a protest held at the NIPOST headquarters in Abuja, Mr. Buba Nehemiah, the President of the National Union of Postal and Telecommunication Employees, expressed his concerns about the recent appointments.

According to him, Adepoju has implemented significant reforms in less than a year, and it is essential to support his commendable efforts moving forward.

“Sunday Adepoju should be allowed to continue the good work he has started. We are not against Mr. President neither are we against the minister, but our desire is that the good work of Adepoju should be allowed to continue. “

“Removing him at this point would terminate these processes and take NIPOST back to square one which we are against. We have over 13,000 employees here, once it is crumbled, it will add to the issues of insecurity in the country.”

“Allow us to work with the person that has understood this organization. Allow us to join hands with him to take this organization to the level that it would generate revenue for the nation. This is our cry and demand. The only condition that can make us go back to our offices and work is for the appointment that was made last week to be cancelled, “His statement was as follows.

Nonetheless, Odeyemi purportedly entered the office at approximately 1 pm and engaged in a meeting with senior Directors. Rather than accepting the offered chair, she chose to sit elsewhere. Odeyemi holds the distinction of being the first woman appointed as the CEO of NIPOST.
