Three teenagers were arrested for pretending to be kidnapped in Delta State.

The Delta State Police Command has detained three teenagers for orchestrating the kidnapping of one of their peers and extorting N700,000 from his parents.

According to a statement from the command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, the boys, all aged 17, were apprehended after receiving the ransom.

“These three suspects, all 17 years old and friends, collaborated to fake the kidnapping of one of their peers in Agbor. They contacted the parent of one of them and demanded a ransom. They were apprehended after collecting N700,000 in ransom,” the statement read.

The statement also included a cautionary message, urging young people to remain calm and avoid seeking shortcuts to success, as it could lead to dire consequences. It highlighted the disturbing reality of a 17-year-old capable of staging a fake kidnapping for monetary gain.

Sadly, it pointed out the likelihood of the parents attempting to shield their children from justice, emphasizing the necessity for justice to prevail.
