The Ogun State Police have apprehended a man suspected of fatally assaulting his neighbor in a dispute over ownership of a goat.

The Ogun State Police Command has taken into custody a man identified as Kolawole Akinsanya, who stands accused of collaborating with thugs to fatally assault his neighbor, Lukmon Ajibola, in Ilepa, located within the Ifo Local Government Area of the state.

The tragic incident occurred on the evening of Monday, February 5, around 8pm.

It all began when one of Ajibola’s goats strayed into Akinsanya’s premises and consumed the dried yams he had placed there.

Upon witnessing the goat eating his yams, Akinsanya reportedly struck the animal, resulting in its demise.

Ajibola, who raises goats to supplement his motorcycle business, confronted Akinsanya about his actions, sparking a heated argument.

Allegedly, Akinsanya then summoned a group of thugs who proceeded to assault Ajibola. Concerned residents came to Ajibola’s aid upon discovering him lying unconscious, and he was promptly transported to Zion Hospital in Ilepa.

Unfortunately, he was later transferred to the State Hospital in Otta, where he succumbed to his injuries.

While Akinsanya was apprehended by the police, the other assailants managed to evade capture and flee the community.

Confirming Akinsanya’s arrest, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, stated that authorities are actively pursuing the remaining suspects who fled the scene.
