Diego Chavez, a Mexican footballer known for his role as a striker at FC Juarez, tragically passed away at the age of 28 after a fatal car crash.

TUDN reported that Chavez lost control of his red Volkswagen Beetle, leading to a collision with a pole, which resulted in him being trapped inside the vehicle.

The club confirmed Chavez’s untimely death and paid a heartfelt tribute to him on Wednesday.

In a Facebook post, they expressed their deep sorrow, informing the FC Juarez community of the loss of their player, Diego “El Puma” Chavez, highlighting his joy, enthusiasm, simplicity, and dedication during his time with the club.

The Mexican club also shared a separate message on X, expressing their profound sorrow at Chavez’s tragic passing.

“Our players, staff, technical staff, directors, and all of us who make up this institution are heartbroken by this unfortunate news, as today we bid farewell not just to a player, but to a member of our large family,” the statement read.

Chavez had returned to Juarez for his second stint after previously being on loan to the club during the 2016-17 season.
