Fuji maestro, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate or Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, has conveyed a message to President Bola Tinubu, expressing the grievances of Nigerians regarding the current economic challenges.
In a recently surfaced video from one of his recent stage performances, K1 emphasized the widespread suffering and discontent among the populace due to the present state of the economy.
Preceding K1’s remarks, his daughter, Dami Ayinde, had already voiced her concerns on Wednesday, asserting that the All Progressives Congress (APC) had failed to fulfill its promises, particularly in addressing the economic difficulties faced by Nigerians.
Dami Ayinde, a young lawyer, shared her sentiments on the matter via her Instagram stories, highlighting the disparity between the party’s assurances and the harsh reality experienced by the people.
The renowned Fuji legend, recognized for his strong support for the President, conveyed his message in Yoruba, earnestly urging the President to address the myriad challenges facing the populace.
The economic difficulties in the country have escalated since the departure of former President Muhammadu Buhari, marking the commencement of the new administration on May 29, 2023.
On the day of inauguration, President Tinubu announced the discontinuation of fuel subsidies, citing their advantage to neighboring countries as a reason for the decision.
Under his administration, the decision to discontinue fuel subsidies resulted in a significant increase in the price of Premium Motor Spirit, soaring from N185 to over N600. Furthermore, as part of the government’s financial sector reforms, the naira has experienced a consistent depreciation against the dollar, following the Central Bank of Nigeria’s move to allow the currency to be determined by market forces, leading to its instability and trading at prices ranging between N1,200 and N1,500 in the market.
Expressing concerns over the impact of decisions like the floating of the naira and the removal of subsidies, which significantly influence the economic growth, K1 De Ultimate highlights that these choices have pushed more Nigerians below the poverty line.
Speaking truth to power, he urges the President to urgently address these issues to prevent the opposition from exploiting them to criticize the administration. In a heartfelt plea, K1 emphasizes the citizens’ suffering, marked by inadequate power supply, and implores the President to take decisive actions to alleviate the hardships faced by the masses. He sings, “I plead with you to find a solution to the plight of the masses. The citizens are crying and wailing.
We’re suffering amid a lack of adequate power supply.
How did things get to this point? I implore you to fix these problems. Listen to the complaints of the masses and treat such complaints with all seriousness.”
Recognizing President Tinubu as a renowned philanthropist, K1 De Ultimate acknowledges the prevalent anger among Nigerians, especially discontented traders grappling with the adverse effects of the fluctuating dollar exchange rate.
Expressing concern about the escalating incidents of kidnapping, K1 urges the President to address this issue promptly. While appealing to fellow Nigerians for patience and perseverance, K1 assures them that the government is committed to resolving the challenges confronting the nation.
