The chairman of VGC was found dead in his car in Lagos.

The Lagos State Police Command has initiated an inquiry into the demise of Gihan Mbelu, a 42-year-old individual identified as the chairman of Victoria Garden City (VGC) in the Lekki area. Gihan Mbelu was discovered unconscious inside his C300 4Matic car at approximately 10:10 am on Friday, April 26, 2024, near VGC. Initially found by concerned individuals, Mbelu was rushed to Lagos University Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by attending medical staff.

Witnesses revealed that Mbelu’s vehicle had been running for an extended period at its parking spot, prompting closer inspection, leading to the discovery of Mbelu inside. Efforts to rouse him proved unsuccessful, prompting the decision to transport him to the hospital.

Following his confirmation as deceased at the hospital, Mbelu’s body was placed in the hospital’s morgue, and the incident was reported to the police for investigation. Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the state police command, confirmed the incident on Saturday, April 27, stating that investigations were underway.

Gihan Mbelu, survived by his wife Eloho, a tech entrepreneur, former investment banker, and private equity investor, along with their two daughters, held his position until his passing.
