Simon Ekpa and 96 others have been declared wanted for terrorism by the DHQ.

On Friday night, March 22, the Defence Headquarters announced that 97 individuals are wanted for terrorism, violent extremism, and secessionist threats against the state.

Major Gen Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, confirmed the names and photographs of the wanted individuals in a statement issued in Abuja.


The military authorities have identified wanted persons, including terrorists, bandits, and insurgent commanders, hailing from the North East, North West, North Central, and South-East zones. No bounty has been placed on these individuals.

In the North West, which is grappling with banditry and kidnapping, 43 individuals have been declared wanted. Notable figures among them include Alhaji Shingi, Malindi Yakubu, Boka, Dogo Gide, and Halilu Sububu.

Meanwhile, in the North East, plagued by Boko Haram and Islamic State for West Africa Province terrorists, 33 individuals have been designated as wanted.

Among them are terrorist commanders like Abu Zaida, Modu Sulum, and Baba Data.


In the North Central and South East regions, 21 insurgents, militants, and violent criminals have been declared wanted.

In the South East, notable individuals include Factional IPOB leader Simon Ekpa, Obiemesi Chukwudi also known as Dan Chuk, David Ezekwem Chidiebube, and Amobi Chinonso Okafor, also known as Temple.
