Rivers Assembly Erupts in Flames Amid Accusations of Governor Fubara’s Impeachment.

The burning flame

Sunday night, unidentified political hooligans ignited a fire at the Rivers State House of Assembly (RSHA) following alleged impeachment proceedings against the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and House Leader Edison Ehie.

Coinciding with this incident, the Coalition of Democratic Vanguard (CDV), a civil society group, delivered a stern caution to Mr. Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and his purported associates who are allegedly pursuing the removal of Fubara and Ehie from office.

Gathered information reveals that some individuals, possibly hooligans, arrived at the assembly complex around 9:00 pm yesterday in a white Hilux van. They reportedly disarmed the security personnel on duty and purportedly executed the action.

It has been reported that the event took place at the assembly complex, situated opposite the State Command Police Headquarters on Moscow Road in Port Harcourt.

According to a source, the legislative body had finalized arrangements to carry out the impeachment of Fubara and Ehie as part of its agenda for the day, which resumed following undisclosed issues.

An anonymous security insider confirmed the incident and disclosed that the police and State Fire Service teams had to collaborate to extinguish the fire.

The source said: “Yes, the Rivers State House of Assembly main chamber was under attack and set on fire. It was police men and the fire service team that helped to put out the fire.”
