Police raided a hideout in Abuja where bandits were staying and arrested one person.

On Monday, March 25, 2024, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command’s operatives intensified their battle against banditry within the FCT.

They conducted a raid on a kidnappers’ hideout situated in Jibi forest near Dei-dei, Abuja, leading to the arrest of one suspect. SP Josephine Adeh, the command’s spokesperson, disclosed this in a statement.

She added that during the operation, firearms and cattle were among the items seized from the camp.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) stated that on March 23, 2024, around 06:00 AM, law enforcement operatives raided the hideout based on reliable information. This intelligence indicated that a group of bandits, led by individuals known as Mallam Danyaboi and Ilu, were planning to retaliate with kidnappings following the arrest of their associates.

Upon the arrival of the police, the bandits attempted to flee from their hideouts to evade capture, as mentioned in the statement.

The operation was prompted by credible intelligence revealing that Mallam Danyaboi and Ilu, known associates of Nasiru Mohammed A.K.A. Danger, who was previously apprehended and presented by the Police Command on March 11, 2024, in connection to numerous kidnappings in the FCT, had organized a retaliatory kidnapping scheme in Zuba and its vicinity due to the arrest of their cohorts.

During the raid, law enforcement recovered various items such as firearms and livestock from the hideout. Additionally, intensive patrols have been implemented to prevent any potential kidnapping incidents in the area.
