Officials confirm Bobrisky is in Ikoyi prison without facing capital charges

The Nigeria Correctional Service denies reports of Bobrisky’s transfer from Ikoyi to Kirikiri prison, asserting that he remains in Ikoyi, where he is serving his six-month sentence for currency abuse.

An official, speaking anonymously due to restrictions, clarified that Bobrisky’s offense doesn’t merit transfer to a maximum-security prison, where inmates with life or death sentences are usually housed.

Plans for inmate relocation across custodial centers are under consideration, primarily aimed at decongestion. The official emphasized Bobrisky’s continued stay in Ikoyi, stating,

“He was not sentenced to death or life imprisonment, which typically necessitates transfer to a maximum-security facility like Kirikiri.”
