Nigerian Army Denies Revenge Attack After 16 Soldiers Died in Delta Community

The Nigerian military has rejected accusations of launching a retaliatory strike on Okuoma community in Delta state, where 16 soldiers were killed by youths over the weekend.

General Christopher Musa, the Defence chief, refuted claims of military aggression in a response conveyed to Reuters. “No reprisals by the army.

We are searching for the murderers and their weapon cache,” Musa asserted.

Reports emerged from some Nigerians alleging that individuals in army attire raided and torched homes in the community on Sunday, March 17, following the deaths of the soldiers at the hands of the youths.

The soldiers had been deployed to the community to address a land dispute. A video depicting houses ablaze in the community circulated widely, accompanied by assertions that military personnel were responsible for the arson.
