Lagos State has declared a traffic diversion plan in light of the installation of a truck barrier at Dorman-Long Bridge.

The Visible Cracked Dorman-Long Bridge

In an update from the Lagos State Government, it has been revealed that a traffic diversion will be implemented at Dorman-Long Bridge on Saturday, October 7, 2023.

This diversion, scheduled between 10:00 pm and 7:00 am, has been planned to facilitate the installation of a crucial truck barrier.

Sharing the update on Instagram, the Lagos State Government stated: “To prevent frequent accidents involving large vehicles that have tragically resulted in loss of life on certain bridges, the Lagos State Government has declared a traffic diversion on the night of Saturday, October 7, 2023.

This diversion will be in effect from 10:00 pm to 7:00 am to facilitate the installation of the Dorman-Long Bridge truck barrier.”

“Consequently, the following alternative routes will be available to Motorists during the diversion:

“i. Motorists from Western Avenue inbound Ikorodu Road will be diverted to Empire Road/Jibowu to continue their journeys.

“ii. Motorists from Western Avenue can alternately use Agege Motor Road to link Mushin and proceed to their desired destinations.

“Motorists are implored to be patient as the closure of the bridge is planned for the nighttime as part of the traffic management strategy to avert further accidents and loss of lives.

“The State Government has, however, noticed the continuous damage on the truck barriers and has therefore warned again that henceforth, any driver who runs into them will face the full wrath of the Law.”

This development follows several weeks after the Federal Ministry of Works reassured the public about the Dorman-Long Bridge, confirming its excellent condition and complete safety for use.
