Lagos State Government finds 86 rooms under bridge rented at N250,000 per year.

Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, reveals a shocking discovery: 86 partitioned rooms beneath Dolphin Estate Bridge in Ikoyi, rented for as much as N250,000 annually.

Wahab’s team successfully removes all structures, including a container used for illicit activities.

Special Adviser Kunle Rotimi-Akodu confirms the eviction of squatters, with 23 individuals arrested by Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC). Rotimi-Akodu emphasizes the risk posed by illegal settlements to critical infrastructure and confirms ongoing monitoring.

He also notes the dangerous use of gas cylinders and fuel storage for generators in these makeshift shelters.
