Kogi auto crash: 14 dead, 13 injured.

In Aloma community, Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State, tragedy struck on Sunday, April 21, claiming the lives of fourteen individuals in a horrific accident. Involved were a Toyota Sienna bus en route to Abuja from Port Harcourt and a Toyota Hiace bus bound for the Southern part of the country.

Eyewitnesses recounted a devastating head-on collision between the two commercial vehicles, resulting in the tragic loss of fourteen lives. Thirteen individuals miraculously survived but sustained varying degrees of injuries. Sadly, one of the survivors later succumbed to their injuries, bringing the death toll to fourteen.

Rescue efforts by villagers were instrumental in saving the occupants of the Sienna bus from the flames that consumed the Hiace bus. The injured victims were promptly transported to hospitals for treatment.

Overspeeding and potholes along a bend near Government Science Secondary School, Aloma, were cited as contributing factors to the accident. The extraction of the Sienna bus driver, who suffered severe leg injuries, proved challenging and took three hours.

While the Sector Commander of the FRSC, Samuel Oyediji, confirmed the incident, he awaited further details from unit commanders to ascertain the full extent of the tragedy.
