In a boat crash in Lagos, two individuals have lost their lives, while 15 others have been rescued.

On Wednesday, February 21, a boat crashed at Powerline, Ikoyi Link Bridge, resulting in the confirmed deaths of two individuals and the rescue of 15 others.

The boat, carrying seventeen passengers, was heading to Ikorodu when it abruptly caved in due to a singular accident.

The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA), in a released statement, confirmed that the crash was attributed to a rise in tide.

It explained that the rider collided with a high-tension pole submerged in water, leading to the boat’s capsizing.

LASWA further verified that two individuals, a male and a female, lost their lives in the accident, while 15 others were safely rescued.

The agency reported that the deceased female was recovered from the water and subsequently transported to LASWA’s head office at Falomo, where she was pronounced dead by LRU paramedics.

The adult female’s remains have been securely bagged, awaiting the arrival of SEHMU officials.

The search for the body of the adult male is currently underway.
