Fatal accident in Anambra as truck crushes one to death and injures two others.

Tragic incident on Thursday, April 4th, as a truck with brake failure plowed into pedestrians along the Onitsha-Asaba bridgehead, resulting in the death of a woman and injuries to two others.

According to an eyewitness, the vehicle experienced brake failure while descending the River Niger bridge en route to Asaba. Consequently, the driver lost control and collided with pedestrians on the roadside.

C. A. Iyiegbuniwe, the Staff Officer of Public Education at the Federal Road Safety Corps in Anambra, confirmed the incident, stating, “The crash occurred today, April 4, 2024, at about 3:20hrs along Onitsha-Asaba Bridgehead.”

He added, “It involved an articulated white and green Mercedes Benz vehicle with registration number NKE25LG. The vehicle had a brake failure and collided with pedestrians.

Two individuals sustained injuries, while one female was fatally injured.”

Iyiegbuniwe continued, “Upon reaching the scene, FRSC personnel transported the two injured individuals to Toronto Hospital, Onitsha, and the deceased was taken to Toronto Mortuary.”
