Enigmatic Health Crisis Strikes Eregi Girls School in Kenya, Leaving Over 90 Students Struggling to Walk

Eregi Girls Secondary School in Kenya Hospitalized

Over 95 Students from Eregi Girls Secondary School in Kenya Hospitalized Amid Mysterious Illness Outbreak

The students were taken to Kakamega County General Hospital (KCGH) as well as Iguhu and Shibwe Sub-County Hospitals for medical attention.
“As reported by NTV Kenya, the students were hospitalized due to a condition that caused paralysis in their limbs.

The latest data from the school administration indicates that 29 students are under treatment at Iguhu Hospital, 39 at Kakamega Referral Hospital, 31 at Mukumu Mission Hospital, and 14 at Shibwe Hospital.”

“An anonymous nurse revealed that the cause behind the students’ loss of sensation in their legs is suspected to be an electrolyte imbalance.

She elaborated that this condition is marked by a depletion of bodily fluids, a phenomenon evident in many of the affected students. The nurse stated, ‘This condition is known as electrolyte imbalance, which results in a loss of bodily fluids.’

This recent occurrence follows in the wake of a similar incident that unfolded months ago when Mukumu Girls High School in Kenya had to shut down on April 3 due to reports of a mysterious illness, which resulted in over 100 students being hospitalized.

“The students displayed symptoms including vomiting, diarrhea, and high fever, prompting the implementation of precautionary measures to curb the disease’s spread.

Following thorough investigations, the Ministry of Health disclosed that the students had ingested food contaminated with human waste. “Preliminary laboratory tests have identified Enterotoxigenic E. coli and Salmonella typhi as the culprits behind the illness,” stated Acting Director General for Health, Patrick Amoth.”
