The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended two individuals involved in the illicit distribution of drug-infused snacks to school students and social gatherings in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. Among those arrested are a 20-year-old hair stylist, Josephine Odunu, and a 30-year-old dispatch rider, Edesemi Ikporo.
According to a press release from NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi, the agency’s officers intercepted Edesemi while he was en route to deliver 200 grams of cannabis-laced chin-chin in Opolo area. Following this, Josephine was swiftly apprehended at her salon in Kpansia area, where she operated as a major distributor of the drugged snack. A search of the salon yielded an additional 3 kilograms of the illicit substance, bringing the total seizure to 3.2 kilograms.
Further investigations revealed that Edesemi handled the delivery of the drug-laced chin-chin, while Josephine distributed it, particularly targeting students and social events. Josephine’s clientele included a wanted suspect responsible for producing the illicit snacks.
In a separate operation, NDLEA operatives in Adamawa State arrested two wanted suspects, Ajim Samuel (aka Boss), 30, and Davidson Joshua (aka Dantala), 36. The suspects were intercepted along the Numan-Jalingo road, where they were transporting a consignment of tramadol concealed within their black Honda Civic car. The seizure included 14,428 pills of tramadol and 21 grams of cannabis, alongside monetary exhibits amounting to N19,280.
