Cubana Chief Priest detained by EFCC for Naira abuse

The EFCC has detained businessman and socialite Pascal Okechukwu, also known as Cubana Chief Priest, ahead of his arraignment today before the Federal High Court in Lagos.

Cubana Chief Priest faces three counts related to Naira abuse, accused of spraying and tampering with the currency at a social event, in violation of the Central Bank Act of 2007. He will appear before Justice Kehinde Ogundare.

EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed the news, stating, “Yes, Cubana Chief Priest is in our custody and will be arraigned in court tomorrow.”

The EFCC did not specify the date of Chiefpriest’s arrest, only confirming his custody and impending court appearance on April 17.

The EFCC is prosecuting him for allegedly spraying and tampering with the Naira at an event held at Eko Hotel on February 13th, 2024, another incident in Lagos in January 2024, and a separate event in 2020.
