Anambra police have apprehended individuals suspected of being involved in the murder of the President-General of Umuoji town.

The Anambra State police detectives, in collaboration with the Umuoji Vigilante, have successfully captured the alleged murderers of the President-General of Umuoji town, Silas Onyima, who was killed in his residence over the weekend.

DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesperson of the state police command, disclosed in a statement that four suspects have been detained, with the recovery of the deceased’s cellphone and ATM card from them.

“During interrogation, they implicated four other accomplices, currently being pursued by law enforcement,”

Ikenga revealed.

Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, who was away on official duty in Ibadan for the 14th Biennial Police Games, swiftly returned to oversee the investigation.

Commending the collaborative efforts of the police in Ogidi and Umuoji Vigilante, he instructed the State Criminal Investigation Department to dispatch its Forensic Team to the crime scene and assume control of the inquiry.

Furthermore, the CP directed the Homicide Team at the State CID to track down the four fugitive accomplices and ascertain the motive behind the heinous act.
