Nollywood actor Charles Inojie has voiced his worry about the rising influx of newcomers in the industry.
During an interview on the Honest Bunch Podcast, the renowned actor expressed his concern about the growing trend of aspiring actresses using the industry as a platform for their businesses.
He pointed out that these individuals lack a genuine interest in Nollywood, using the industry merely as a promotional tool for their other businesses.
Referring to them as manipulative individuals, he remarked that these opportunists actively pursue Nollywood directors and producers. He highlighted their willingness to go to any lengths just to be in the spotlight.
“Those set of people who pay movie producers to star in a movie, are only chasing after title. They just want to hold onto it as a side hustle, as many of them are into businesses. They just need a tag to Nollywood.
It was a time in the industry marked by a noticeable influx, as if the Devil had opened the gates for both genuine talents and opportunists. However, these newcomers aren’t motivated by building a lasting acting career; instead, they aim to merely hold the title of actresses, using it as a facade to advance their business ventures.
He further said, there are daughters of Jezebel in Nollywood. They can do anything just to be in front of the camera. And when you meet a character that isn’t properly formed as a producer/director, you will fall.
