Amotekun stops three bank robberies and catches 36 suspected criminals in Ondo.

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun, has thwarted a seven-man gang’s plan to rob three banks in Irele Local Government Area.

Revealing this on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at the Akure headquarters, Commander Akogun Adetunji Adeleye disclosed that the gang also intended to kidnap a businessman.

Adeleye disclosed that the armed robbery gang, hailing from Sapele, Delta State, was apprehended by Amotekun operatives. While six members remain at large, the mastermind who harbored them was captured.

He emphasized that the gang’s plan involved robbing three banks and kidnapping a supermarket Managing Director, aided by inside information.

Additionally, among the suspects are individuals skilled in vandalizing government infrastructure.

Amotekun tracked the gang as they attempted to steal pipes from a World Bank-funded water project.

Adeleye urged residents to continue supporting Amotekun with information, assuring the ongoing collaboration with other security agencies to safeguard lives and property.
