Women Seek Justice for Khadijat of the APC Allegedly Slain by Hooligans in Kogi.

Women are protesting, seeking justice for Khadijat, who was killed by hooligans in Kogi.

Allege that officials have maintained silence due to the victim’s lack of a prominent family background. Urge President Tinubu to step in and secure justice for the deceased woman… Demand that law enforcement promptly apprehend and bring to trial all individuals linked to the heinous homicide.

Numerous women activists from various regions of Nigeria gathered in Abuja on Tuesday, rallying for justice on behalf of a woman purportedly slain by hooligans in Kogi State.

These activists, acting as representatives for diverse women’s organizations united under one banner, emphasized the urgency of their protest. It seemed that the brutal demise of Khadijat Yahaya, an All-Progressives Congress (APC) enthusiast in the Kotonkarfe region of Kogi State around two months ago, may have been disregarded, reportedly due to her lack of a prominent family background.

Barrister Pereagbe Enagonimi Ekpede, one of the co-conveners of the Women Standing Together group, spoke to the press following the demonstration. She expressed concern that even after approximately two months had passed since the tragic event, Khadijat’s assailants continued to roam freely, with no information available regarding progress in the police investigation or any arrests of those responsible.

They displayed signs bearing a range of messages, including, “arrest Khadijat’s k!llers now”, Khadijat’s k!llers still walking free, Police must act now”, Khadijat cannot be wasted just like that”, and “women’s lives matter justice for Khadijat”, among others.

“We want to make it clear and loud that we will not stop until justice is served on this matter. Khadijat was a Nigerian. She had three little children. She cannot be allowed to be k!lled anyhow without anyone paying for the crime. What would have happened if she were to be the daughter of an influential Nigerian? By now, some suspects would have been arrested and arraigned.” She said

“Come to think of it, we are talking about human life that once taken cannot be replaced nor repaired.

“We call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a father and grandfather to weigh in on this matter and help us get justice for Khadijat. Women’s lives matter!”
