Wizkid, Davido Trade Heated Words Online: Gloves Off

The ongoing online feud between musical heavyweights, Wizkid (Ayodeji Balogun) and Davido (David Adedeji), escalated Monday night.

Wizkid threw shade at Davido by posting a leaked video of him seemingly pleading with a female associate in response to a fan’s request for new music on X.

Additionally, Wizkid dismissed the acclaimed music producer and label owner, Don Jazzy, as merely an ‘influencer’.

The controversial posts sparked a frenzy on social media, leaving many curious about the root of the feud between the two artists.

On Monday night, Davido responded to Wizkid’s actions with a series of cryptic tweets, widely interpreted as direct responses to the Ojuelegba crooner.

In one tweet, Davido hinted, “Dem no know your Gbedu,” seemingly targeting Wizkid, who had announced the release of his highly anticipated Morayo album in May.

Continuing, Davido tweeted, “When light comes, darkness vanishes. Let’s get active.” Additionally, he shared a video of his wife, Chioma Adeleke, with the caption, “They were trying to distract us, baby don’t mind them.”

Wizkid swiftly fired back with a tweet, ridiculing Davido’s entourage and songwriter, then followed up with another post, dismissing any further engagement with “delusional” individuals.

This sparked a direct exchange, with Davido asserting, “WE NOT DELUSIONAL, YOU’RE A SICK MAN,” prompting Wizkid to repost the leaked video of Davido.

Despite recent sightings of the two artists embracing in a Lagos nightclub, their public spat comes as a surprise to many. Notably, Wizkid had announced plans for a joint tour with Davido in 2023, following his ‘More Love, Less Ego (MLLE)’ album tour. Their complex relationship, often marked by friction, reflects the dynamic nature of Nigeria’s music scene.
