Willow Smith recently shared an intriguing message, suggesting feelings of ‘resentment,’ just one day after her mother Jada disclosed a secret separation from her father, Will Smith.

Willow Smith, the 22-year-old daughter of Hollywood power couple Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith, turned to social media in the wake of her mother’s surprising revelation about their separation dating back to 2016. On her Instagram Stories, Willow shared a post that seemed to reflect her present feelings.

She shared a text card displaying the definition of ‘resentment’ on her social media.

“Resentment is literally the experience of feeling something over and over again (re-sentiment),” the description said.

“It’s being stuck in a loop. A helpful question to ask myself is, ‘Do I want to keep feeling this way?’

“If the answer is no, then I get to remind myself that I can choose to feel differently.”

Willow’s enigmatic message followed her mother’s interview with NBC host Hoda Kotb, aged 59, on the Today Show, discussing her memoir, ‘Worthy.

Will and Jada tied the knot in Baltimore, Maryland, on New Year’s Eve in 1997 and are parents to two children, Willow and Jaden, both 25 years old.

Additionally, Will has a son named Trey, aged 30, from his previous marriage to Sheree Zampino.

Jada explained that, initially, she and Will weren’t prepared to disclose their separation to the public as they were navigating the complexities of their partnership, which is why they kept it private for all these years.”

“In regard to, how do we present that to people? We hadn’t figured that out,” Jada said.

As for the cause, she mentioned that it encompassed “a multitude of factors,” and they found themselves “entangled within an illusion” of each other’s idealized expectations.

She also said, “By the time we got to 2016, we were just exhausted of trying.”

Since that time, the separated pair has maintained a facade of togetherness in public, even including the widely-discussed Oscars incident of 2022.

The revelation of their separation follows Will and Jada’s acknowledgment in 2020 that she had an affair with musician August Alsina when he was 25 years old.
