Mercy Johnson, a popular Nollywood actress, has questioned the reasoning for the rapid hike in egg prices.
It’s no secret that Nigeria is now dealing with inflation, which has resulted in considerable increases in the pricing of essential life necessities.
In light of this, Mercy explained in a video posted on her Instagram page that she was wanted tea and chose to buy bread and eggs to go with it.
However, she was surprised by the significant increase in the pricing of both items, which she attributed to the exchange rate.
She then inquired whether the eggs were imported or if the hens laying the eggs were from another country.
According to her, the price increase is ridiculous because there is no direct relationship between eggs and the value of the dollar.
The video of her expressing her concerns has elicited diverse comments online, with several explaining the reasons for the hike, including increased expenses of chicken feed and other poultry farming supplies.
