During a recent and profoundly candid interview on the “TeaTalk” podcast with the well-known media personality Toke Makinwa, actor Jim Iyke disclosed how postponed grief had brought about the demise of his marriage.

At the start of the interview, Jim Iyke seemed unsure about discussing his marriage and divorce. However, as Toke Makinwa kindly asked him to talk about it, he started to share why his relationship fell apart.

As a divorced actor, he confessed to suppressing his grief at the time, influenced by the traditional African expectation for men to conceal their emotions, fearing they’d be perceived as weak if they showed vulnerability. This emotional suppression led him to prioritize the wrong issues, resulting in conflicts within his marriage.

Jim also mentioned that his ex-wife made considerable efforts to support him, but he struggled to reciprocate the same level of affection.

Despite the end of his marriage, he expressed his intention to remarry and savor the experience of being married once again. He revealed that through this journey, he has gained wisdom and achieved greater success.

The actor emphasized that anyone entering his life in the future must do so on his terms, as he now understands himself better and is in a stronger position.

Even though their marriage ended, Jim Iyke retains a deep respect and affection for his ex-wife. He values the memories they created during their time together and the partnership that their marriage once symbolized.
