Tragedy Strikes Gada Biu Community in Plateau State as Transformer Explosion Claims Lives.
On Saturday, a horrifying incident unfolded in Gada Biu community, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State. Around 3 a.m., an electric transformer exploded, causing devastation that included the loss of several lives and the destruction of residential buildings and shops in the vicinity.
According to eyewitnesses, the transformer’s explosion sparked a destructive blaze that ultimately resulted in the fatalities. A community resident named John Silas officially confirmed this tragic occurrence.
“This morning, at approximately 3 a.m., the residents of Kabong village within the Gada Biu community awoke to the heartbreaking news of four individuals losing their lives. They were tragically electrocuted in the wake of an electric transformer explosion in the vicinity.
Regrettably, more individuals may still be trapped in the fire, and we remain uncertain about their well-being at this point.” Silas reported.
In response to the incident, Alabo Alfred, the spokesperson for the Plateau State Police Command, confirmed awareness of the fire outbreak.
He disclosed that an ongoing investigation aims to shed light on the circumstances.
Alfred stated, “Yes, we are informed of the situation. Additionally, several people sustained injuries and have been promptly transported to the hospital. Consequently, we have mobilized our officers and personnel to the area for a thorough inquiry into the incident.”
