A fatal bank robbery in the Otukpo area of Benue State claimed the life of a police officer named Emmanuella Ankyov, along with seven other individuals.
The incident unfolded when the suspected robbers infiltrated Otukpo town around 3:10 pm, where they conducted their operation for over an hour. Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants initially targeted the Otukpo Police Station, disarming the officers before proceeding to the banks, where they fired shots indiscriminately.
The banks’ proximity to Otukpo’s bustling central market sparked panic, with traders fleeing for safety. According to an onlooker, the robbers employed two Hilux vehicles and another smaller car to execute their heist.
In the meantime, on social media, friends, family, and colleagues have expressed their grief over the loss of the fallen officer.
