Three-point specialist Ogunbanjo hands Ondo win over Zamfara

Ondo State women’s basketball team, Sunshine Angels, made it two wins in three matches on Sunday in the basketball event of the National Sports Festival in Asaba, Delta State, after a hard-fought 33-32 win over Zamfara State.

Once again, it was shooting guard Itunu Ogunbanjo’s heroics that handed Ondo victory at the Games.

In a heavily contested match, Ondo, coached by Shola Aluko, were held down and caged by the northerners.

And it took a moment of magic from Ogunbajo, whose three-point throw in the last four seconds of extra time gave the Angels the one-point needed to break Zamfara hearts, as the score line read 33-32 at the buzzer.

This is the second time Ogunbanjo will put up an amazing performance in the basketball event at the festival and her teammates hugs after the game was a reflection of their appreciation.

The Angels had triumphed against Team Imo in their first game, before losing the second against Bayelsa, but they would be happy they’ve bounced back to reckoning.
