The Senate names a fresh Deputy Majority Leader and Chief Whip.

In a recent development, the Senate has chosen Lola Ashiru, the APC Senator representing Kwara South, as the Deputy Majority Leader, and Nwebonyi Peter Onyeka, who represents Ebonyi North Senatorial District, as the new Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate.

During Wednesday’s plenary session, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, made the announcement of these new appointments. Senator Ashiru steps into the role formerly held by Senator David Umahi, who left the Senate to assume a ministerial position.

Meanwhile, Senator Onyeka, who is also a member of the APC, takes over as the Deputy Chief Whip from Ashiru.

Ashiru, the previous Deputy Chief Whip, was promoted to the role of Deputy Senate Leader, filling the void left by Umahi’s departure.
