The Labour Party is urging the removal of a labour minister due to their perceived lack of focus.

Honourable Nkiruka Onyejeocha

The Labour Party (LP) has issued an official request to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging the removal of Nkiruka Onyejeocha, who serves as the Minister of State for Labour. This request is based on their allegations of her failure to properly concentrate on her duties.

During a press conference conducted on Wednesday, October 26, 2023, in Abuja, the National Youth Leader of the LP, Prince Kennedy Ahanotu, voiced the request.

LP youth leader tells President Tinubu to drop famale minister from office.

Ahanotu conveyed apprehensions regarding Onyejeocha’s alleged lack of commitment to her role and called upon the government to respond promptly. Furthermore, he appealed to security agencies to look into her supposed role in the ongoing turmoil within the Abia state chapter of the LP.

We are calling on the present government to relieve Onyejeocha of her ministerial role as she has lost focus and refused to concentrate on the assignment given to her,” Ahanotu stated.

Additionally, he emphasized what he described as an “unholy partnership” between Onyejeocha and certain ousted Labour Party members, spearheaded by Chief Lamidi Apapa. Ahanotu asserted that this partnership’s objective was to sustain the party’s turmoil, undermining its stability and advancement.

In response, Onyejeocha refuted the LP’s allegations against her. She accused the party of engaging in self-inflicted internal discord and contended that the accusations were part of a paid campaign against her.
