The perpetrators behind the abduction of 17 individuals from Kawu village in Bwari Area Council of the FCT have issued a dire warning, threatening to take the lives of the remaining 11 hostages. The threat arises from a delay in the families’ compliance with ransom payments and the provision of new Bajaj motorcycles. It is pertinent to note that on January 11, 2024, bandits carried out an invasion in Kawu, abducting 18 people, including a couple, the children of the District Head of Kawu, and a female nurse.

On January 22, 2024, four of the victims were released by the bandits after a ransom of N5 million was paid, while the remaining 11 individuals are still being held captive. Bala Danjuma, a relative of four of the victims, shared with Daily Trust on Sunday, January 28, that the leader of the bandits had issued a threat on Saturday morning, expressing intent to harm the remaining 11 hostages due to the delay in fulfilling the ransom demands.
