The Edo PDP chairman who was kidnapped has been released.

Dr. Tony Azegbemi, the Edo State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has been freed after eleven days in captivity following his abduction.

The politician was taken from his residence in Benin City’s government reserved area on March 16. He returned home around 3 am.

The announcement of his release was made by Senator Odion Ugbesia at 6:17 am today, March 26. It wasn’t disclosed whether any ransom was paid for his freedom.

Azegbemi was reportedly followed by his captors, who trailed him in two Toyota Corolla cars and intercepted his jeep along Odaro Street near his residence around 11 pm on March 16.
