The chairman of the Labour Party has been released.

Julius Abure, the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP)

Police have released Julius Abure, the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), who was arrested in Benin City alongside Kelly Ogbaloi, the LP chairman in Edo state, on Wednesday, February 21, as reported by LIB.

The police had stated that Abure was arrested based on a petition alleging attempted murder and conspiracy to commit grievous harm.

Following his release, Abure addressed supporters and party members, emphasizing that the struggle for liberation in a country is never easy.

The LP chairman expressed gratitude for the solidarity and support received during his ordeal, stating that no struggle for a country’s liberation is without challenges.

He highlighted the unjust treatment faced by freedom fighters worldwide and recounted the attempts to destabilize the party with false accusations of forgery and embezzlement following the general election.

Despite efforts to instigate internal strife and provoke crises within the party, he emphasized that the allegations were baseless, often resulting in vindication after police investigations.

Refraining from discussing the ongoing investigation into his recent arrest during party primaries preparations, he acknowledged his release on bail following various interventions.
