This week, American singer Taylor Swift donated $100,000 to the family of Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a mother of two and radio DJ who tragically lost her life during a Kansas City Chiefs parade.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, February 14, during celebrations for the team’s Super Bowl victory, resulting in 21 injuries, including nine children.
After the heartbreaking incident, Taylor Swift, whose boyfriend is Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce, contributed $100,000 to a fundraiser established for Lisa’s family.
Taylor made two separate donations of $50,000 each to the GoFundMe campaign, expressing her heartfelt condolences with the message:
“Sending my deepest sympathies and condolences in the wake of your devastating loss. With love, Taylor Swift.”
Since Taylor Swift’s donation, the GoFundMe campaign for Lisa has surpassed its initial goal, raising $194,798 out of the intended $75,000.
Lisa, who was 43 years old at the time of her passing, was employed as a radio DJ.
Described as “an amazing mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to so many” on her fundraising page, she is survived by her husband of 22 years and two children.
Initially reported to have passed away during abdominal surgery due to her gunshot wound, it was later clarified by Variety that she died at the scene.
Additionally, Lisa’s son, Marc Lopez-Galvan, in his 20s, was among those injured in the shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory rally but has since been discharged from the hospital.
Besides Lisa’s son, two other family members of the deceased radio DJ sustained gunshot wounds.
Furthermore, Lisa’s daughter, Adriana, was present at the scene but fortunately did not sustain any injuries.
The fundraiser description emphasizes, “We kindly request your ongoing prayers for her family as they navigate through this profound loss.
This fund aims to offer essential financial assistance to her family as they cope with this unimaginable tragedy.”
