Sterling returns to W’Cup after UK visit

England forward Raheem Sterling will arrive Qatar on Friday (tomorrow) ahead of England’s quarter-final  World Cup match with France on Saturday.

According to a Sky Sports report the player will return to England’s World Cup base to join the English squad training.

The APROKOVIBES reported on December 5 that Sterling left Qatar after armed intruders broke into his home in the UK while his family were inside. He also missed England’s 3-0 win over Senegal in the last 16.

He was ruled out of the squad due to a “family matter” shortly before kick-off.

It was gathered that Sterling wanted to get home as soon as he was alerted to the break-in, having been very shaken and concerned for the wellbeing of his children.

Manager Gareth Southgate then, confirmed Sterling was heading back to the UK and said he would not pressure him to return to Qatar, adding that family is most important.

Southgate had said, “I really don’t know, it’s a situation he needs time to deal with, I don’t want to put any pressure on him.

“Sometimes football isn’t the most important thing and family should come first.”
