Siblings beat teacher, lock up admin officer for punishing their brother.

Chaos erupted at a secondary school in Port Harcourt’s Agip area when the family of a J.S.S.1 student, known as Favour, allegedly attacked a female teacher, Sonia Amadi, and confined the school’s administrative officer, Joy Ajayi, in her office.

The incident stemmed from accusations of inappropriate corporal punishment inflicted on their child.

According to Joy Ajayi, the administrative officer, three boys barged into her office, brandishing scissors and threatening her.

They demanded justification for their brother’s punishment, refusing to heed pleas from teachers and parents to desist.

Meanwhile, the teacher, Sonia Amadi, had been severely beaten earlier by the same group, with her mother also allegedly assaulting her upon her arrival at the school.

The school management filed a complaint at the Ada George Police Division, where Sonia Amadi was issued a medical form for treatment.

However, the State Police Command spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, stated that they had not received an official report on the incident as of Monday afternoon.

The Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign condemned the assault on the teacher and the invasion of the school by the student’s family.

The group urged parents to seek legal recourse through proper channels rather than resorting to vigilantism. They called for a thorough police investigation and prosecution of those responsible.
